Original US M-1 WWII helmet with swivel bales and front seam. Heat treat number looks to be 846D, but is very hard to read, so we could be wrong. Helmet has been painted in battleship grey for US Naval use. Retains original olive drab chinstrap. Also painted with a name or unit designation of “HUG” in darker grey on the front. Helmet condition overall is very fine, with no dents in the shell. Paint retains approx 95% original grey, with some minor scuffing. Inside of helmet retains original green paint, and is in excellent shape. Outside of helmet around the bottom seam has some minor surface rust from being in a maritime environment. This is a very nice example of an original WWII helmet that was used by the US Navy.
