All original 1838 Ames Peace Flask and leather hangar strap in excellent overall condition. The flask itself measures approx 7.5″ x 4.5″ to top of collar. Seams are excellent and fully intact, with no signs of repairs. Spout cutoff spring is intact, and the flask functions wonderfully. Metal has toned to a pleasing patina with no signs of previous cleaning. Original buff leather hangar strap is in likewise excellent condition, showing only minor age staining, but no cracks or areas of crazing. Flask is dated 1838 and stamped Ames, as well as WS on the collar. Flask itself has a few minor dents and dings from use. Typical design with American Eagle over 26 stars surrounding clasped hands. A great original flask, Pre-Mexican War era, and very hard to find in this condition.
