For sale is a Springfield 1903 rifle in 30-06 caliber. This rifle was made in the WWI period, and has the Peterson cutout on the left side of the receiver. This rifle has been extensively sporterized, and has been mounted in a stock of light colored wood, probably maple. Action and barrel have been reblued, and barrel no longer retains any markings. Receiver has been drilled and tapped for a scope. Original military safety has likewise been replaced with a commercial variant. Mechanically excellent with a good bore that needs a cleaning. A very typical example of a sporterized 1903 Springfield from the 1950’s era. We have attempted itemize all the sporter modifications made to this rifle, but we may have missed some. Suffice to say it’s heavily sporterized, and not being sold for its collector value. Rifle is in the 110xxxx range, and is above the heat treat problems encountered in some of these receivers. Retains well over 96% of its reblue. This is a C&R eligible gun.
