Original M43 Nazi SS Panzer NCO’s soft hat.  Condition externally is near excellent, with only some minor dust under the fold up brim from years of storage. If one was inclined to, most likely all the dust would come off with a delivate washing.   Internally the cap shows evidence of sweat and use, although lining is intact, with only some extremely minor tears along the forehead.  Ink stamped with a faded “57” for size, as well as a series of numbers (maker’s mark) that has faded and cannot be read with certainty.  Brim has mild internal stiffener, but is still very soft and pliable.  Made of high grade wool, and possibly a private purchase hat just based on overall quality.  Buttons are tightly attached and are original to the hat.  SS front totenkopf and side eagle are in excellent condition and machine sewn.  An excellent overall example of a later war M43 SS Panzer hat.
