Browning A5 Auto 5 1903 or 1904 Production, ALL ORIGINAL 12 Gauge Shotgun

$3,249.99

NOTE: THIS ITEM HAS SOLD.

MODEL: Browning A5 Auto 5
CONDITION: Please see description for full condition details.

For sale is a Browning Auto 5 Standard Grade shotgun in 12 GA with 28″ BBL. This is one of the first 10,000 guns made, S/N 72xx. The gun is in very good ALL ORIGINAL condition. Serial numbers match on receiver, wood forend, and barrel. Gun retains all early features, including the wedge shaped operating handle, “suicide” safety, square cartridge stop, no magazine cut off, small plain carrier latch button, etc. Wood does not appear to have been refinished or sanded, with wood to metal fit being excellent. Mechanically excellent with a bright bore. This shotgun was one of the few made specifically for the American market, as the barrel is marked Cockerill Steel, as well as being marked on the top of the barrel “Browning Automatic Arms Co Ogden Utah, USA.” Condition on this shotgun is 85-90% original blue on the barrel, with the receiver retaining 75% original blue. Wood is in likewise very good overall condition, with the stock having expected minor dings and handling marks from hunting and field use. Forend has an old, repaired crack approx 2″ long on the underside. Forend is in very good condition otherwise, with expected handling marks. Shotgun retains original hard rubber buttplate in very good overall condition. Buttplate has a noticeable chip out at toe, as well as overall signs of field use. Marked FN in the middle with “Automatic Browning” surrounding it. Gun is marked with the Belgian *T inspector stamps, indicating what we believe is 1904 production. According to collector references, this is a “1904-A” type, indicating a gun with 1903 features, but made in early 1904, before any of the later upgrades were added to production. This is a very nice example of an extremely rare, early Belgian made Browning A5 shotgun, and these rarely come to market in this good of a condition. This gun came from the original owner’s family, and has not been on the market before. This is a C&R eligible gun, and yes, we will ship to CA.
