US ORIGINAL WW2 WWII Navy Rare Dyed Dark Blue Dixie Cup Hat

$119.99

NOTE: THIS ITEM HAS SOLD.

For sale is an original WWII US Navy Dixie Cup hat that was dyed blue for use in combat areas of the South Pacific.  This hat appears to have originally been white, but was dyed blue during the period of use.  The hat itself is in very good condition, showing honest wear and use, but no rips or tears.  The brim shows some fraying, and there is one tiny fray on the top of the cap.  The hat is very sun faded, but the blue color is still very evident.  No maker mark or tag on inside.  Inside of cap marked with the name “Messina” in ink.  Same name is written in yellow in inside brim of hat.  This is a very interesting example of a combat used sailor’s cap that no doubt saw actual service in the South Pacific Theatre during WWII!  We offer our items for collecting and display, therefore we are unsure of exact size, and we can only say that this is a smaller sized cap.
