Original WW2 1943 or 44 dated leather Soviet Pilot’s helmet.  Incredibly rare leather pilot’s helmet, with throat microphone.  Has a nearly illegible maker’s label inside, with a date of either 1943 or 1944.  The last digit is partially obscured, and very hard to read.  Right ear cup is marked “AB.” This is the summer version of the helmet, without the fur lining.  Grey silk lining is worn and dirty, with substantial wear and some tears.  Outside black leather is in very good overall condition, and is very supple.  All snaps and external leather straps are in excellent condition and present.  All the wiring for the throat microphone, as well as the throat mics are in excellent condition. Goggles are in very good condition, showing only minor age wear.  Rubber is supple and is not deteriorating.  Glass is clear and not scratched up.  Vent holes over eyes are indicative of WW2 era goggles, so these are not post war replacements.  Elastic goggles band is in excellent condition and is not frayed or torn.  Elastic is likewise in very good condition.   This hat displays very well, and can also be worn although the interior is somewhat fragile.  Soviet leather flying helmets are rare, but ones with internal wiring and microphones are even harder to find, since very few were made, and even fewer survived, let alone in such wonderful condition.
