For sale is a Colt Army Model of 1896, also known as a Colt New Army revolver in 38 Colt caliber. This gun started out life as a US military model of 1896, and was subsequently nickeled long ago. All markings are crisp and readily discernible, including the RAC stamp on the left rear of the frame. Serial numbers on cylinder release, crane, frame, and grips all match. Cylinder is RAC stamped as well. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Wood grips have an extremely faint cartouche on them, but nothing legible. Butt markings have been removed. This revolver never had a lanyard ring, as was proper for the 1896 model. 6″ BBL. Gun has play in the cylinder when cocked and uncocked, and could use its timing tightened up a bit. Wood grips have minor chips at the toes. Gun retains approx 98% of its nickel finish, and was refinished over a very clean gun originally. Since we can’t be sure with 100% certainty that this is an antique, we will ship this to a C&R license.
