What appears to be a French 75mm shell casing, with very high quality trench art in a German oak leaf motif.  There is extensive cross hatching behind the oak leaves, something that is not often found on these types of casings.  Near base of shell is etched “Verdun” indicating probable manufacture by a soldier stationed there.  Condition is very nice, showing age patina, and could use a cleaning, but is otherwise in very nice shape, and should clean much better.
